The Monier Group (formerly Lafarge Roofing) is the world's largest producer of roofing products and systems, with business units in over 40 countries of the world. Monier Technical Centre provides R&D and design expertise to the whole of the Monier Group and is seeking to appoint an additional Senior Engineer to join the team.

You will be based at our modern laboratory in Crawley, West Sussex, UK and will work in the busy Roof Physics & Validation Department. This is a highly technical role and the main themes of the work will be energy efficiency of roofs and the validation of solar systems. The work involves a mix of computer modelling, using our state of the art in-house software, experimental performance evaluations, engineering design calculations and occasionally some field measurements. You will manage key tasks and projects in the department and will interact with staff in our business units, as well as Technical Centre staff. Some international travel will be involved.

This is an increasingly important area of work, influencing the design of current and future roofing systems, worldwide. It is driven by the need for more sustainable constructions, with ever greater energy efficiency and comfort levels. Various software tools are used in this work, including in-house  software and CFD.

The successful applicant must have:

A good degree (or higher degree), or equivalent, in a relevant engineering or scientific field. A high level of computer literacy.  A thorough approach with a good attention to detail. A good standard of written & verbal communication in English. Excellent team working & inter-personal skills.

The successful applicant will ideally have:

Some experience post graduation (2 - 3 years) in a relevant area, which might include: running scientific software packages, CFD, wind engineering, energy performance of buildings, building physics, working in the solar industry. English is the business language used throughout Monier, although a working knowledge of other languages can be an asset.

The salary will be circa £30k + bonus scheme & private healthcare.
