The Institute of Energy and Sustainable Development is undergoing a period of rapid growth, which creates opportunities for committed researchers to advance their career in an independent research centre concerned with the clean and efficient use of energy in the built environment.
With 23 academic and research staff, 35 PhD students and 140 MSc students, a portfolio of research worth over £4 million, and excellent premises, the Institute provides a stable base and a stimulating research and teaching environment.
You will join the multi-university consortium, Carbon Reduction in Buildings (CaRB), the aim of which is to create models that describe the influence of both technical and socio-economic factors on the energy use of UK buildings. The models will scale from individual houses up to large numbers of dwelling types to represent the national stock.
You will gather, organise, archive and analyse data on overall energy use, internal temperatures and the electrical consumption of individual appliances. Hundreds of homes across the country are being surveyed and household questionnaires will be collected. The postholder may also be required to assistance with similar work on non-domestic buildings.
You must have good organisational skills, be able to manage datasets and be prepared to visit households and deal with householders' queries.
