Dear colleagues on the Board, (and anyone else visiting the site)
First of all, a Happy 2007. As agreed, I am trying out a few functions of IBPSA Talk by logging in and writing an initial message. I offer a cup of coffee for the first board member who views this message and puts a reply on 'Talk'. Come on, let's make the system work!
thank you for starting this discussion. I like the idea of sharing the thoughts of IBPSA-England Board members with other users of our IBPSA-England Talk initiative. I think that we have to work much harder to encourage people to visit the IBPSA-England website more frequently. One of our priorities must be to attract more people from industry and to make transition from an academic orientated society towards a dynamic more industry orientated organisation. EPSRC funding that Ian is working on and meetings in Leicester and Plymouth are certainly a step in the right direction.
Just my thoughts. Things might be helped by having registration for our events through the website as well. But's lets work on our fellow board-members first :-)
Just trying out IBPSA Talk .... and desperate for that coffee. Good meeting at UCL recently. I met with CIBSE last week who are, naturally, keen for IBPSA England to form a group: 'The CIBSE Simulation Group'. This is, of course, very topical at present with all the activities surrounding Part L compliance. I explained we wanted to begin slowly until we gained confidence in the organisation which they understood and thought was sensible. The other carrot I dangled was a revision of AM11 which naturally interested them. I left a good sample of our web pages with them to peruse and I will be speaking to them again later this week to take the matter further.
Welcome to Talk. And I am sure Dejan will be delighted to see someone else join the active user group. You're welcome for that coffee, allthough I suspect you might need it right now rather than at the next board meeting.
The CIBSE news sounds good; but let's indeed keep our own identity for the time being, after all IBPSA USA is not named the ASHRAE Simulation Group either.
