about us

IBPSA-England is the English regional affiliate of the world-wide acting International Building Performance Simulation Association (www.ibpsa.org).
IBPSA-England was founded to advance and promote the science of building performance simulation in order to improve the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of new and existing buildings, through the provision of a forum for the exchange of information between researchers, developers and practitioners operating in the area of building performance simulation and related issues.
Any individual or organisation with an interest in the field of building simulation can become a member of IBPSA-England
The co-signatories of the first IBPSA-England Chapter were:

  • Ian Ward - University of Sheffield
  • Malcolm Cook - De Montfort University
  • Pieter de Wilde - University of Plymouth
  • Jonathan Wright - University of Loughborough
  • Martin Mayfield - ARUP
  • Dejan Mumovic - University College London
  • Simon Rees - De Montfort University
  • Hasim Altan - University of Sheffield
  • Andrew Wright - De Montfort University

robert mcleod: Vice-Chair
SENIOR LECTURER
LOUGHBOROUGH University

Rob's research addresses resilience and unintended consequences (e.g. overheating) in low energy buildings. His work combines measurement and modelling (including machine learning) to study the behavior of buildings and systems.
email - profile

ANNA MAVROGIANNI: co-Secretary
Associate Professor
University COLLEGE LONDON

Anna is an expert in indoor environmental quality assessment in the context of building energy retrofit and climate change. Her work combines building performance simulation, stock modelling, and environmental monitoring.
email - profile

ROKIA RASLAN: Co-SECRETARY
Associate Professor
University COLLEGE LONDON

Rokia specialises in understanding building performance, environmental and energy efficient design through computational simulation and analysis. Her research interests include design and optimisation, mass retrofit solutions, energy regulations and policy.

CLARICE BLEIL DE SOUZA: Committee Member
SENIOR LECTURER
CARDIFF University

Clarice’s research interests are in design decision making, integration of building physics and machine learning to building design, collaboration in the AEC industry and participatory design (post-disaster and developing countries).
email - profile

neveen hamza: Committee Member
SENIOR LECTURER
newcastle University

Neveen focuses on the architectural aspects of facade design, its impact on building energy consumption weighted by environmental psychology, creating buildings that promote well-being, daylight & thermal comfort without impinging on energy.

Rebecca ward: Committee Member

UNIVERSITY OF CAMBRIDGE

Rebecca is interested in how numerical simulation can be used in conjunction with monitored data to improve our understanding, design and operation of the built environment. One of her key interests is how the interaction of plants with their local environment can impact on environmental conditions, specifically inside buildings.

BIANCA Howard: Committee Member
Lecturer
LOUGHBOROUGH UNIVERSITY

Bianca's research expertise lies at the intersection of buildings and the energy system. She develops techniques for urban building energy modelling in the planning, design, and operational domains. In the planning domain, her expertise is in leveraging opportunistic data sources to analyse opportunities for energy efficiency within an urban building stock.
